Chiltern Guided Trek Challenge

Join Watford Rotary Club on a guided charity trek through the stunning Chiltern Hills and help transform lives by providing clean drinking water to rural communities in Pakistan.

Walk for clean water

By walking together, we raise funds that support clean water, better health, and Rotary’s global mission to eradicate polio. What is polio?

Walk to end Polio

This one-day trek is designed to be accessible yet rewarding, making it suitable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. Participants will walk scenic countryside routes, guided by an experienced trek leader who will ensure a safe, well-paced, and enjoyable experience throughout the day. You don’t need to be a seasoned walker — just willing to take on a meaningful challenge and support a powerful cause.

The Challenge

  • One-day guided trek in the Chiltern Hills

  • Moderate difficulty, suitable for most fitness levels

  • Professionally led with a guide ratio of 1 guide per 12 participants

Why We’re Walking

Funds raised through the trek will be used to install water filtration plants in rural villages in Pakistan, providing safe, clean drinking water to communities in need. Access to clean water dramatically reduces waterborne diseases and plays a vital role in protecting children’s health and supporting efforts to eradicate polio. What are the top 5 reasons to end Polio?

Methodology – How to Participate

Participation in the Walk to End Polio Charity Trek is designed to be inclusive and accessible, offering two clear routes for involvement. Participants may choose the option that best suits their circumstances while supporting the overall fundraising objective. Register to the event first from the form given below.

Option 1: Fundraising Commitment

Participants may alternatively choose to fundraise for the cause by committing to raise £500.

  • Participants register via the form below.

  • You will receive instructions via email to setup a dedicated JustGiving page

  • Each participant commits to raising a minimum of £500 from friends, family, and colleagues

  • Funds raised are donated directly to Watford Rotary in support of water filtration projects and polio eradication initiatives

  • No participation fee is required when this option is selected

Option 2: Participation Fee

Participants may join the trek by paying a £50 participation fee. This option is ideal if you:

  • Would like to take part along with a member who is doing the main fundraising

  • Prefer to support the cause through a direct contribution

  • Are joining as part of a group, company, or social activity
